Neil works exclusively with adults of working age (17 to 65 years) and has a wide experience of psychiatric problems that affect people at this stage of life. The commonest problems that occur at this time are depression and anxiety. However he is familiar with a range of problems from relatively minor anxiety and phobias through to the the major mental illnesses, schizophrenia and manic depression.
Neil has a particular interest in the diagnosis and treatment of manic depression, which is also known as bipolar disorder and has recently published a book about this illness.

His work in the National Health Service is with outpatients, who are referred by their General Practitioners and mainly in the local area south of Cambridge. He also looks after inpatients, both on Adrian House an acute admission ward, and also with those who require psychiatric intensive care at George MacKenzie House, both at Fulbourn Hospital.
